I got a very interesting message this morning. It appears that Black & White will be supporting the new P5 virtual-reality glove from Essential Reality. Basically, the P5 is the first commercially available glove that I’ve seen that is priced for the consumer. Honestly, I don’t remember seeing anything much like this since the old Nintento Power Glove for the original Nintendo Entertainment System. In any case, at US$150 I do wonder how good it is.

Got to reinstall the OS on the server today. Ooooo. All fresh and nice. Not grotty and full of crap.

I haven’t really had time to check, but I’m guessing that every blog in existence has some sort of political content right about now. Here’s mine: The voter turn out in Minnesota was huge, especially for a non-presidential election year. The solid fact is that none of the candidates that I voted for made it into office but I am reassured that the people who did make it to office did so by a large number of people who I disagree with voting for them.

I think I may have seen the worst example of pettiness by someone that I actually know in recent memory. I am not going to link directly to it, but it did occur on the Mnstf Natter discussion list. I don’t think that anyone has enjoyed the decline of Minicon, but I for one am not at all surprised with assholes like that around. The real irony is that this example of superhuman idiocy happened in a discussion about cutting funding for a project because Mnstf doesn’t have the cash flow it once did.

Well, 3 months and no new posts. That’s a pretty interesting number. In that time I have been layed off from one job, but had something already in the works so that I was able to not only get essentially 2.5 weeks of paid vacation between gigs, but get a raise in the process and get a job doing EXACTLY what I want to be doing. My ego tells me that I was able to do all that, despite the current tech work climate, because I’m a badass geek.

I was digging through my couple of web sites today and realized that I haven’t done a really good rant in a long, long time. At least not in the same form as the chocolate rant anyway. I think that for the most part L-Space has taken up most of my ranting space. I’m not convinced that it’s a good thing, but it certainly is a thing.

Salon is characteristicly assanine in their review of Men in Black II. Not that I’m particularly expecting it to a be a particularly good movie, I just thought that maybe the reviewer should work more than 30 seconds on coming up with the inane drivel that was completely incoherent until the second page.

I finally saw AI last night. I have recently decided to give Netflix a try, and figured this would be the best way to see a few movies I just haven’t gotten around to. Sure enough, I had it 2 weeks before I got around to watching it, but I think it was worth the wait. Overall, I did enjoy the movie though I think that I have to agree with just about everyone else that I’ve heard espouse an opinion about it in that I think the last 15 minutes could be just left off and it would be a far better movie.

Continuing with a short run of car related posts, take a look at the Toyota Pod concept vehicle that monitors your lifestyle and adjusts accordingly. Not just your driving habits, but everything up to taking pictures when it thinks that a conversation is going well. Kind of spooky, but possibly the future of Personal Digital Assistants? Who knows.
