Since I wasn’t really using it anyway

For those of you who care, you can remove my cell number from the list of ways you can get in contact with me. Contributing factors: trimming the budget and I wasn’t really using it.

Home and work numbers remain the same, but email remains the best way to get ahold of me.

In case you needed proof

Just in case there was any lingering doubt over the likely absence of anything “good” in the announced Marvel Avengers movie, Bags and Boards says that the person responsible for writing this oncoming travesty will be Zack Penn who has a decidedly checkered record.

[Listening to: Como Fue by Nachito Herrera and Puro Cubano from the album Live At the Dakota]

The Windows Live Writer plug-ins are starting to trickle in. So far I’ve loaded up the Currently Listening To and Flickr4Writer plug-ins. I just hope I don’t have a long wait till someone puts a Blog This plug-in for Firefox together.

When I wasn’t looking

I looked at my blog for the first time in a very long time in Internet Explorer just a few minutes ago, and noticed that my sidebar isn’t loading properly. Hopefully I’ll take some time to fix it tonight, but if I don’t get to it soon, just use FireFox (like you already should be) and it displays with no problems.

The Horror

I just don’t know if I can even begin to be properly pessimistic about the chance that the newly announced series of Avengers movies is going to be even watchable. Have you seen the travesty that is The Ultimate Avengers Movie? It’s not even like the recent Marvel movies have been really very good. The decline in quality is obvious, and by the time they get around to this long list it will be Captain America all over again.

Click Click

The Escapist has a really fascinating article this week that posits the notion that the adventure game, which I and so many other people morn the lack of good modern versions, has simply evolved into something else entirely.

A night at the fringe

I had a lovely evening tonight taking in a couple of Fringe Festival shows. Even though I got out of work a bit later than I had expected, the schedule worked well to do a Light Rail Line-Up by first heading up to the Mill City Museum for “The Rat’s in the Walls”, a one man H.P. Lovecraft tale done in wonderful style and good atmosphere. My only quibble is that I was a bit disappointed in the large film screen that was unused on the wall that really dominated the stage visually. Given the content of the show the rock wall the screen was on would have added so much more atmosphere without the screen. Given that it looked like a permenant feature, it’s not something the cast or crew could have done anything about.

Next stop was at the Mixed Blood Theater for Illinois Jane and the Pyramid of Peril, a fun farce with faux French and fancy footwork for the far out fight scene. Seriously: the coreography of the big fight was really well done for such a simple show. Though some of the jokes did run a bit long, overall a nice light show to end the evening.

Quotable

It looks like King Kong devastating a nice area rug, but tastes much better than that sounds.
