Google Calendar

So Google finally released it’s very long awaited Calendar and it’s pretty good IMHO.

Thomas Dolby back on tour!

One of my most favorite musical artists, Thomas Dolby, is back on tour for the first time in 15 years, and I think I won’t get to see one of his shows. The closest that he’s getting is Chicago and Milwaukee, but I can’t seem to find tickets for the show on May 19th and I think that might be my only chance!

Dr Pepper Berries & Cream

BevNET has their review of Dr Pepper Berries & Cream up. I’m looking for a bottle to try.

FYI – Site outages over the next few days

In case anyone is curious, there are likely to be some outages over the next couple of days as I do some work on the back end of cavort.org. It shouldn’t effect L-Space but will likely effect everything else I’ve got hosted on this box while I mess around with the sites and the database.

One more thing

While I’m thinking about it, I thought that I would mention that the 360 that I did buy is obviously part of the first refresh since it did not contain the Xbox 360 Media Remote that was a “promotional item” from the original shipment. Too bad really, I hadn’t known that it was not in the recent shipments so I was surprised not to see one in the box. Ah well.

Finally made the plunge

I finally bought an XBox 360 yesterday. The Target up the street had a whole pile of the Premium systems actually in stock when I popped in. I do feel better that I did agonize over the decision a bit, and I only bought one game (that was on sale) but I’m still feeling slightly dirty about it.

Also, ripping DVDs to an easily useful format to play back over the Media Center Extender is a royal pain in the ass. I should note that I am only working on this for the DVDs that I own and have no designs or intentions to expand that to any that I don’t own.

I did notice one odd thing: It doesn’t appear to be able to find the MP3 files that I have legally ripped from my collection of legal CDs when I’m browsing through the MCE or Media Connect interfaces. Not sure why that is yet, but I’m sure I’ll find a simple answer pretty quickly.

Anyway, if anyone is interesting in adding me to their Friends list,

Snow still lying around at Byerly’s

For those who are local, that might be a bit of surprise given the total melt that has been going on for the last week, but in this case I’m referring to one of my favorite new sodas. It’s been around at Kowalski’s (though hard to find the couple of times that I tried) for a couple of months, but look around the drinks cooler in the deli section of your local Byerly’s (confirmed at the Roseville store, as the open bottle in front of me can attest) or possibly Lund’s and you’ll sure to hit pure clean Snow. Great stuff.

I actually first got to try a bottle when I went skiing at Welch Village with a friend in January. They happened to have it in the cafeteria, and I’ve been hooked ever since.

Yes, it’s peppermint flavored, but for those who grew up on flavored “sodas” that are sometimes better used as paint thinner, you will likely be very pleasantly surprised.

If only it didn’t cost $1.99 a bottle.
